Why are you doing this class?
The reason I am doing this class is primarily to finish my Bachelor in Information Technology Degree.. why I chose this class in particular is because research I feel is part of every day life for an IT professional, as our field is constantly changing and evolving. To be able to do high quality research is paramount to evolving along with the field.
What are you hoping to learn?
I am hoping to learn methods that will allow me to support projects for myself and for future work with a good standard of research. I am hoping to learn a proper process to take when researching and to get some experience doing it.
What do you think ‘research’ is?
Research is the process of gathering verified (and verifiable) information to explore a theory or subject matter.
What is plagiarism? Why is it important to avoid it?
Claiming someone else’s work as your own. It is important to avoid it as it damages the credibility of your own work and disrespects the work of others. The nature of plagiarism doesn’t lend itself to being verifiable by the person plagiarising (as they are taking the work without referencing it) – this damages the knowledge of the subject being researched as a whole.
